Cardigan and scarf – thrifted
Necklaces – Oh My Gypsy Soul and Moon Raven Designs

Say hello to my favourite dress. I’ve had it for a year and a half now and it’s spent the majority of its life with me sitting neglected in my sewing bag, needing all sorts of alterations. This summer I finally accepted that I would never get around to fixing it and took it to a local seamstress instead. Not the cheapest option by far, but most definitely worth it because I wear it a lot.
I wanted to create some witchy inspired photos today, partly because it’s October (can’t wait for Halloween!), and partly because of my witchy boots. So we were lucky to stumble across this location when we wandered a bit further down our usual route. We were actually on the grounds of a hospital but I think we entered through some old, unused entrance because parts of it were all boarded up and there weren’t many people about.
It was exciting to discover the miniature ruins that you can see in the first picture. It was just an ornate wall with a few other pieces of brick lying around, but I’d love to know what it used to be. It’s less than a five minute walk away from where I live, but before today I had no idea it existed. That’s one of the great things about taking pictures I think, it makes you go out and explore. Also, I don’t know if you can see but in the second picture I’m standing in front of disused well. Creepy.
Thanks again Leanne, for helping me out with the photos.
These photograph are absolutely stunning. I love everything, the boots, the bag, the SHOES! Good choice getting it tailored, I always plan on doing thing myself but nine times out of ten just end up cutting it up myself.

Oh my gosh, these photos are just to die for. I love everything about them, especially the colors! And your outfit is a whole other thing entirely..ahhhh. I understand about piles of things to alter getting out of control, it seems worth it to take such a wonderful piece to be altered, it looks amazing and completely worth it.
Also, ashamedly, somehow I let your blog get buried in my pile of things to read and haven't seen it in awhile. Well that will never happen again.
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL. That dress is stunningggg, and your boots and your necklace! I am so excited for Halloween, I don't know what to do.

Wow almost your whole outfit is thrifted and vintage! Love that. I picked up something the other day at an op shop (just a simple blouse) and cut it up and added some embellishments. Turned out quite nice.
I'm excited about your setting for the shoot. Very eerie, but I agree, I enjoy taking photos, as it alows you to explore.
xx Carina

I have seen these photographs everywhere on people's tumblrs and I've been meaning to comment it, because it is beautiful. You have the loveliest outfits and paired with an amazing location, these photos are just stunning. I adore the inspiration behind the outfit photos. I adore the ruins and wall. I wish there were more locations like these in San Francisco… maybe there are, maybe there aren't. I need to explore more, as you said. I really like your scarf, it is really popping out at me. Glad you finally got the dress altered, because it's beautiful on you!

These are so gorgeous! You are seriously one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen, and it's so effortless, too.
Do you mind me asking what camera/lens was used? <3
Your costumes are perfection! I love the whole Autumny feel of this post–the mushrooms, the school-ready sachel, the brown boots and thick tights. Wishing I could get a break from this perpetually sunny equatorial weather and enjoy myself some similarly cider-hued, woolly outfits.
xoxo,
Gina

I'm a big fan of your blog and closet as well, darling! And your latest photos are so, so beautiful. As for the soft focus you asked about in my own photos, you'd have to ask the amazing photographer herself (CeciliaAustin.com). She is wonderful and has some great tricks up her sleeve for making everything look terribly romantic!

Help the awesome nation of Japan from the earthquake by doing a little donation!
I have a question – the outfits you post (particularly this one), are they what you would wear casually into class? I hope that made sense. Sorry, I’m just curious.
I’m about to graduate and jet off to college in North Carolina and I’ve been absolutely inspired by the pieces you put together! I want to try and pull off something like this when I move, but I didn’t know if it was something you would wear on a regular basis in class.
It really depends on what time my lectures are and how much time I have in the morning. Sometimes I’ll make the effort to dress up a little but then quite often you’ll find me just shoving a pair of jeans and a t-shirt on. I’d probably never wear this outfit to lectures though, only because it’d never be warm enough in Edinburgh when I’m there!
Thanks for the reply!
I also have another question – I’ve been looking online for a pair of granny boots like the ones you’re wearing in the picture, but I can never get the correct ones. I’ve even tried looking them up under granny boot ‘heels’, but still nothing. Do you happen to know the name of the boots? or what brand? Anything helps! I just don’t know where to begin.
Ps . . . You should make an outfit post for the casual clothes you wear. That’d be awesome!
I tend to just search ‘vintage ankle boots’ and then go through the results, that usually yields something for me!
you have got a really really lovely and sweet smile ! :)
