Dressing Fancy

Coat – Topshop
Tights – Zara
Skirt, belt, bag and shoes – thrifted
Top – vintage (a gift from Ian)

University doesn’t often present situations for fancy dressing (fancy dress on the other hand…), but sometimes I just want to. I thrifted these snake print shoes last term, and I’m still undecided on them. They are so 90s, with the slightly square toe and clunky heel. Actually, they’re kind of hideous, but I think I kind of love them. What do you think?

P.S. While I remember, I somehow got long-listed for the Company Style Blogger Awards, under the ‘We Love Vintage’ category. While it would be nice to make it to the shortlist, I very much doubt that I’d be able to make it to the awards ceremony in March (because of university commitments). That being said, there are lots of other wonderful bloggers in that category, such as Cait and Sally, so I recommend that you go vote for them!

  1. I love the palette of this outfit – the rich color of the tights compliments the shirt and skirt so well! The shoes are a great finishing touch.

  2. Hideous? I think not. They are fantastic and lovely and all those delicious things! lol
But I understand what you mean, bout school campuses not being the perfect setting for dressing up. I say, let’s dress up anyway!

    Cheeeers

  3. You’re right about university lacking occasions for fancy dressing!
This outfit is so well put together. Lovelove the photos altogether; the graveyard was an interesting backdrop!

  4. I can’t believe those are thrifted shoes!! They are impeccable and they are so beautiful! Love this outfit, so feminine and gorgeous, and the photos are superb! :D

  5. Such a pretty outfit! And when my brother came back for Christmas, he’d somehow managed to wear fancy dress a lot. I recall Bodger & Badger, cutting a mullet for one party, dressing up as an elf, an ugly Christmas jumper and a monkey being mentioned.

  6. i love your quirky style but i have to say my favourite thing is probably your hair! i think pretty hair just really brings together an outfit and your laid back hair really just adds the perfect finishing touch to your amazing outfit. i also like dressing up but we have to dress up for school so that works well for me x

  7. Haha, I think the snake print shoes are actually pretty, their 90s design is kind of ‘gentle’ somehow :)
And you look absolutely stunning, I adore the contrast between the pale skirt and the tights. Not to mention your vintage blouse, such a sweet treasure! Ian’s got great taste ;)
    Have a lovely sunday,

  9. I went to a thriftstore a few weeks ago and upon checking out with quite an eccentric jacket in hand, the cashier just said “Wow”. Well, I knew it was a bit hideous myself, but I couldn’t help but fall inlove. ahah, too funny. But btw, I love this outfit, the shoes are superrr cute. Great skit&hair!! And congratulations and the nomination!
