Golden Afternoon

Dress – Warehouse (thrifted)
Belt, bag and necklace – vintage
Shoes – Topshop

Despite being well into his 80’s, my green-fingered granddad has continued to maintain his beautiful garden year after year. I have fond memories of leading him around, he with a penknife in hand, carefully selecting the flowers that I wanted to take home. The dahlias in particular are his pride and joy and have won countless prizes at flower shows.

I have been meaning to take photos here for the longest time, and finally got the chance to capture the garden in full bloom yesterday before Ian and I headed out for the evening. It’s not a particularly exciting outfit, but I think the flowers more than make up for that!

  1. Oh my this post is like a little beautiful dream these images are so precious. I’m so proud of your Granddad and his garden! The outfit is super pretty and suites you! :) xx

  2. Hannah, this entire post is so divine! I can’t decide what looks loveliest, you or the garden! And I am very much enjoying the slightly more image heavy post… ;-) xxx

  3. Oh how I wish I will get the chance to grow old, enjoy the happines of long days, reading books, having a garden, grandchildren coming to visit. It makes me so sad that not everyone gets the chance to grow old. But as for now, I’m sure enjoying the hectic days of my life as a young adult and a student in the capitol of Norway :)

  4. These photos make me think of my grandfather, who tended a gorgeous vegetable garden for most of his life. Your granddad’s garden is exquisite–those dahlias look unreal!–and it’s wonderful that you were able to take a few photos there.

  5. although I’ve been a regular for years, I hadn’t checked out your blog in a while. as always, it’s such a breeze!
I have a very similar pair of black suede mary-janes from topshop, but yours seems to have some more “feet clevage” from the side, and much more “walkable on” due to somewhat lover heel lenght.

  6. Hannah this is SO beautiful and so are you. I am not surprised your Grandad has won prizes for his Dahlias they are magnificant! I have been obsessing over the ones we have at work, their colours and structures are just so wonderful and I love that they bring so much colour to this time of year. xxx
