Recently my main reason for going to car boots has been to find vintage christmas decorations. Modern day baubles don’t have a scratch on the old glass ones, which I think look especially beautiful when they’ve got that patina that comes only with age. I managed to find a box of really great ones at the car boot a couple of weeks ago for a pound (a pound!) and then proceeded to trip and throw them all over the floor, breaking nearly all of them. Moral of the story: clumsy people should not be allowed near glass ornaments!
Fortunately for me, my granddad surprised me with a huge box full of decorations that have been sat gathering dust upstairs in his house so now I almost have enough for a tree. These represent about a third of my collection and are my favourites. Needless to say, I am now over-paranoid about their safety and have wrapped them all separately in bubble wrap and tissue paper. No more breakages here!
hope you won’t break them, they are very cute.
vintage xmas ornaments are the bestest!!!! I went thrifting for them last week and was lucky enough to find a bunch (not for a pound though….)
and now i have a white xmas tree with vintage deco!!!!
I love your blog!!!!!!
Each so special and precious, if only they could tell the stories of the Christmas’s they’ve seen!
These are beautiful! I hunt for vintage Christmas baubles all year round as I agree they are so much nicer than new ones. We have a similar story to your box-dropping one though – my mum had a collection of beautiful vintage glass baubles that had belonged to my grandparents … then one day the dog headbutted her ball instead of catching it and it landed in the bowl of ornaments! Noooooooo! We did manage to salvage a few. It happens I suppose. Haha. x
These are gorgeous and I agree, old glass ones are so beautiful x

Beautiful! Sorry to hear about the ones that got away! Merry Christmas to you and your family. :)
If Christmas is a time of nostalgia, then it’s definitely more appropriate to dig out decorations with a bit of history! These ones are gorgeous. x
