I like to collect things, I always have done. I’m continuously starting little collections that never really go anywhere, but this is one I’d like to work on. I don’t know what it is about snuff boxes that I find so appealing. Maybe it’s because they’re small and intricate. Or maybe it’s just because Lord Grantham (of Downton Abbey) collects them too, and I have delusions of grandeur.
Whatever the case, my collection currently sits at a modest number of two. The first one was a Christmas gift from Ian. The second one I’ve had for a long time, and you may have already seen it several times on my blog. This one has also caught my eye, but it costs a pretty penny!
Do you collect anything?
I love that one in that last picture! What an adorable, unique thing to collect– I hope it grows into a large collection!

I think I collect everything! ;) Hoarding is in my genes too.
These are so beautiful, such a lovely thing to collect. The first one is so delicate and lovely but my favourite is the snail shell. I love the photograph where it is accompanied by your coral. Wonderful!
My hoarding tendencies seem to include little boxes too, I love both of these.. so pretty! :)
So pretty! I love the little sea shell.
I collect all sorts of vintage and antique purses. I can’t stop buying them :)
Ooh! I definitely understand the interest in little boxes and cases too, especially antique ones, makes you wonder what kind of special things were saved in it before.
I have a collection of vintage photographs that I should elaborate, they are mostly strange family portraits and high school yearbook photos.
I collect many things!
Old silver cigarette cases (even though I’ve never ever have smoked a cigarette), things I find at the beach, small boxes and cases that I tell myself I need for all my beads and stuff. Hmmm. Not so much “need” as “can’t leave it there- I MUST HAVE IT!”
Glass marbles, but those I actually do need now that I’ve started to put them in my jewelry. :-)
Lots of small, pretty stuff like brooches and photographs from fleamarkets. It’s like small tresaures!
I could go on for ages…
Sounds wonderful. I have a couple of old cigarette cases myself, they belonged to my Mum’s parents :)
wonderful bits and pieces
I love the second one! I don’t really collect anything, besides keeping all my fortunes from fortune cookies.
I hoard things too. I find it really difficult letting things go; especially if they’ve been in my life for a number of years (I get sentimental about things really quickly). That snail shell snuff box is beautiful though! What a treasure.
Just come back from a flea market where I’ve bought the nth little cupful. It’s not a real collection but I’n not able to leave nice old cups when I find them for 0,5€..:)
So cute that little box.
Ciao
I just did a really similar post! Weird… except that I collect odd buttons and ribbons I find, nowhere near as beautiful as these snuff boxes :) xxx
something sweet about collecting little treasures
They are indeed vey lovely! I seem to collect tote bags, as I have so many… ^^

Such a precious thing to collect :)
As for me, I collect a variety of things – well actually, I can’t seem to keep up with just one lol so I manage to hoard jewelry relating to owls, feathers, and birds.
Cheers
Too stunning. I wish I was in the same country long enough to be able to start an enviable collection of anything!

Lost in the Haze: Fashion Blog
Since I’m always moving about in the dorms I never really got much of a chance to collect anything. These are beautiful!
Stamps mostly. When I go to a fair (even if there’s heaps there) I’ve gotta catch ’em all!
I love the way your photos make these things feel that little bit more special. Just stunning!
Indeed a nice thing to collect! I was born a collector myself, from napkins when I was 6 (yes, napkins) to magazines when I was a teenager. It was nice and decorative when I lived in my parents’ big house and the stack went up to my hips, but now in a cramped apartment in the middle of Brussels, there is no room!

(Pls check my new blog guys: http://inwhirlofinspiration.blogspot.com )
Beautiful photos, and lovely trinkets!
I love finding tiny little pieces… These are pretty!
oh my those boxes are so beautiful and sweet thanks for sharing them.
Uh I collect anything to do with Beatrix Potter and I usually get all of my finds from
karboots and charity shops. 8D
These are itty bitty pieces are so precious! I collect acorns and perfume bottles myself.
So gorgeous, both of them!
I’ve got accidental collections aplenty but nothing that I’ve set my mind to collecting. I’d love one day to build a collection of perfume bottles though (at present I haven’t any, hehe).
xx
Oh so pretty. (Love your blog!)
I just adore Downton Abbey. Love the little boxes as well. :)
I also collect many things: vintage Valentines and postcards, kissing salt and pepper shakers, books. I would love to start a snuff box collection. And, don’t even get me started on Downton Abbey, love love love!
I think I’ve also got some of the hoarding genes in me!
I have a very humble button collection: http://reallusion.tumblr.com/post/2328461182/this-is-my-button-collection-i-took-this-a-while
and I also like to collect (or rather, just keep) tickets to theaters and parks ;)
What a lovely collection! I’m a hoarder by nature too, only now that I’m living in a temporary flat I can’t really collect anything since I’ll be moving around. Still, I had to take my collection of little deer figurines with me from home, and now I have also started a collection of pretty rocks, and I also press leaves and flowers a lot. Back at home I had collections of bird figurines, old/foreign coins (with special euro coins), and I guess books and DVDs count too? Don’t even get me started on what I collected as a child, that list could go on and on forever haha (so I’m glad to say I’m not such a horrible hoarder as I used to be).
Sorry for the long text, hoarding is close to my heart! However, the reason I actually commented was to ask if you could tell where you got that skull necklace from? It is gorgeous!
All the best. x
Hi Shosanna, thanks for your comment! The necklace came from here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/mrd74
i love looking at people collections, one of my favorite things to browse when I go inside someone’s home. It’s so intimate and special.
