Since finishing university, I seem to have developed this bad habit where I buy pretty things for my non-existent kitchen. A few weeks ago it was a sunshine yellow, cast iron casserole dish; this week it was a pair of beautiful, if slightly impractical, weighing scales. At £5.00, how could I possibly say no?
Other finds this week: a wonderfully illustrated book on the delectable forage finds of Britain, and an old brass match case (both for my non-existent camper van, obviously). Also this guy:
Look at that face! The perfect little brooch for wearing on my jumper/jacket come autumn.
Oh I love all of it! So pretty.
Such lovely finds! I recently graduated from college also and my vintage purchases have all been for an invisible kitchen. Hopefully I will find a place for the pretty pyrex soon. :)
I am a new reader and just wanted to say hello!

A lot of wonderful finds!
I have been a long-time reader and not-very-good commenter, so although I agree that his little face is adorable (!) I just wanted to say I adore your blog very much :)

What great finds. I have read some of Richard Mabey’s other books and he has a very readable writing style. Also rather jealous of that scale. I find the electric scales just don’t seem to last very long.
I am glad I am not the only one that suffers from this! I buy lots of old cutlery and pottery for my future kitchen, even though it gets ruined at uni! sigh.. Your finds are amazing though, those glass bottles and the scales are beautiful!
The cover of that book is gorgeous! I’ve got a box full of vintage plates and kitcheny things that I’ve managed to collect for my imaginary kitchen too! xx

My bad habit of buying things for non-existent items in my life never seems to end. Beautiful post and a beautiful blog!

They’re also so wonderfully quaint pieces. I love the book, vintage covers are so much more beautiful than new ones and there’s always so much detail on them too xoxo

Very beautiful and useful finds, even if they are for some non-existent spaces. I must admit that through the years I have accumulated quite a lot of things that in theory should belong in my kitchen/living room/garden etc., yet they are still waiting… Hopefully not long now…
Ohhh the book looks fab!
pretty :D
hope you can have a real kitchen soon. haha
