Tenerife

Last week I went to stay with my sister in Tenerife for 10 days. She’s been living and working over there for the summer as a ‘shot girl’. It might surprise you to know that my sister and I are as different as chalk and cheese: you can always count on Steph to have a good tan and larger-than-life eyelashes. It’s crazy how different we turned out to be after sharing a bedroom for over 18 years. Because of university I hadn’t seen her for six months so we were well overdue a catch up.

The windmill in the middle picture was outside of a restaurant we ate at one evening, ‘El Molino Blanco’. At night the spokes were lit up with hundreds of tiny lights and inside there was a man with the most beautiful voice serenading diners with songs such as ‘La Vie en Rose’. On paper it sounds almost cringeworthy, but it was absolutely perfect.

  1. Oh that seems like such a beautiful trip. And that dog is really cute! It’s funny that you guys are so different but well, everyone is unique.

  2. Beautiful photography, especially the pigeon one! I was a shot girl in Tenerife 7 years ago when I was 18. It was quite hardcore and dodgy when I lived there. From what I have heard, it is better now. Enjoyed my time though xx

  3. 1) Tenerife does good pigeons
    2) it took me about 5 minutes to figure out what a ‘shot girl’ is. I’m still not sure I have it right. (Someone who serves shots?)

  4. I went to that exact restaurant last week! My friend’s parents have a house there and we just got back from a week away. Tenerife is my guilty pleasure. People I know always seem to hit the British areas, but the volcano and the forests are incredible.

My Mum and I are chalk and cheese just like you and your sister! Love your blog, only just found it and it’s so beautiful :)

  7. My sister and I are just the same way. Isn’t it swell though, when you can still love spending time with someone who is so different from you? Glad to hear you had a nice trip!
